Lazy Day Makeup

Hey there,

Sorry it’s been a while I know. But I’m back now!

So girls (and boys), I’m guessing I’m not the only one who loves to do random makeup seshes for absolutely no reason, when I’m going absolutely nowhere, on a random day, while I have a large pile of homework staring me in the face. Do the homework and stay on top of school? No thank you. Do my makeup and then parade around my house in it or even take my dog for a walk? YES PLEASE!

A couple of weeks ago it was one of those days: It was a Sunday afternoon, the sun was shining and my dreaded homework sat untouched in my bag where I’d chucked it at the end of my bed as soon as I’d arrived home from school. As you can probably guess, I left the homework where it was and headed instead for my small and basic makeup bag. I don’t have much makeup and can’t really be bothered to buy more so instead I waited silently in my room until my sister left the house then made a beeline for her makeup (please don’t tell her, I’m bagging on her not reading this – pray for me if she does).

Now let’s talk about this particular makeup look I did on this uneventful Sunday, whilst still in my pyjamas. Okay, I’m ashamed to say it but I’m not one of those free souls who can just grab their makeup and without any guidance create a stunning, creative look. I can’t just snatch this colour and that colour and wack it on my eyes and blend this and that and look amazing. So instead I watch tutorials and do my makeup along with them: they do their highlight, I do my highlight. Magic. And on this particular day my aim was to conquer the almost impossible eyeliner. Now, I CANNOT do eyeliner. I just can’t. My hand wobbles and the next thing I know I’ve drawn a thick black line halfway up my eyelid, smack into my eyebrow. Not a look I’d go for, trust me. But today was a special day, the eyeliner fairy must have been watching over me because I did it! I DID EYELINER. And I did it well and evenly, if I do say so myself.

I wanted to practise doing a full face of makeup and so with this in mind I turned to one of the biggest make up queens of all time: James Charles. I followed his video step by step using my cheap supermarket make up while he used his million dollar makeup, making one exception: he did a flaming red eye whilst I opted instead for a more icy, pinky – purple look. I won’t even lie and say this look took less than an hour. Because it did not. It took almost a whole day while I smudged and redid, went wrong and redid again and so on. I went wrong SO MANY TIMES. But I must say, despite that I was proud of the end result and shocked I’d even managed eyeliner.

Does anyone else do their make up on a lazy day, and you’re happy with it and think ‘Perfect, I can do this for the party tomorrow then’? Then, the party comes around, you’re getting ready, you attempt to do the makeup and it all goes horribly wrong. Suddenly you forget how to even put mascara on (an exaggeration but it’s necessary in proving my point hehe). Well this look was one of those looks. I’ve not been able to recreate it since and as for eyeliner, I’ve just gone back to drawing it halfway up my eyelid.

Wow I hope I’m not the only one.

This was the final result:

Well thank you if you made it all the way to here, through all my rambling – I appreciate you. I hope at least some of you can relate to me hehe.

Until next time,

My Top 10 Fave Fashion Influencers

Hiya there,

I hope you are feeling super fabulous and inspired by new colours and styles of clothing as the summer months begin to draw to a close and autumn slowly arises. I wanted to introduce you to some of my all time favourite Fashion Influencers which I discovered on their very active Instagram accounts and who provide me daily with inspiration. I decided to narrow it down to 10 of my absolute faves (which was such a struggle 😦 ) otherwise this post would continue forever, and so, because of that I haven’t been able to mention as many people as I’d wished to. So, without further ado, here they are:

1) MEGAN ELLABY  @meganellaby

megan

This beautiful, stylish Mancunian has inspired me with her use of bold colours and patterns, making everyday wear exciting and new as she keeps on trend with cool yet sophisticated looks, collaborating frequently with large labels such as Topshop and H&M.

2) KATIE WESTWOOD  @katie_westwood

This Russian model and quickly growing Instagram star is best known for her strong use of bold and striking colours which feature in her clothing and ever changing hair colour. I find myself inspired by her courage in exploring fashion through her carefully colour coded outfits, incorporating lots of my absolute fave pattern: checks.

3) JESSICA ANNE WOODLEY @jessicaannewoodley

Founder of Rose Collective (@wearerosecollective ) – a unique and stylish, up and coming clothesline (checks? Yes yes yes yessssss) – this cutie’s style is a whirlwind of bright, bold colours, classic patterns and cuts and sportswear (she loves a good pair of trainers) and she can be seen collaborating with Puma and Boohoo. Oh and you might just remember her from E4’s Made In Chelsea.

4) LINDA @lindafromtinder

Linda from Tinder?? Mixing lots and lots of bright colours with checks (yes, you’re probably starting to see a theme here hehe), this rising Instagram star stands out from the crowd with her confidence and unique style, with frequent posts on her Instagram page of her daily outfits.

5) MARIA PAMELA @pameluft

‘Queen of primary colors and melancholic color palettes’ writes Pamela as she describes her style, and I must say, I agree. Her dress sense is simple yet effective just like her Instagram page which has gained 236k and continues to grow steadily as people fall in love with her aesthetically pleasing style and page.

6) ALEXA CHUNG @alexachung

Now, you may well have heard of Alexa and her stunning wardrobe (*drools*) which has won her not only one but three British Style Icon awards at the British Fashion Awards, which is hardly a surprise. With her eyes set firmly on the future of fashion, Alexa always manages to stay one step ahead of the latest trends.

7) GIORGIA BOTTINI  @jorjapins

Describing herself as an ‘Italian “Trash” Cheap Princess’, this rising Instagram fashion influencer likes to mix it up, turning “trashy” into “flashy” with her daring and bold outfits which she posts about pretty much daily, at times posing in front of trashcans and heavily graffitied walls.

8) TAYLOR LASHAE @taylorlashae

This gorgeous Texas born, French – Colombian Fashion Influencer (and part model) can be found stunning us all with her chic wardrobe and perfect hair (Q. How are her bangs SO perfect?? A. Apparently her secret is simply drying them with a beret. Yep, she obviously likes keeping in touch with her French roots). Apart from her perfectly flawless face and body (but of course no one’s perfect…..right?), Taylor showcases herself through her love of Vintage French fashion which can be seen on her Instagram page (which I am in love with btw).

9) OANH @oanhdaqueen

Rocking both that classic cute, girlie look and a cool, quirky style, the Vietnamese Influencer frequently flaunts her charity shop finds and recent buys on her Instagram page. With over 134k followers, Oanh is on the rise to reach even more Instagram fame as people continue to drool over her outfits.

10) CHLOE BELL @chloesbell

Finally, last but not least is Chloe Bell: a promising Fashion Influencer and model with a bright future in the Fashion Industry. Her day to day looks consist of a mixture of patterns (including checks and leopard print ‘yay!’) with flashes of bright colours, blending together Urban Outfitters and Dollskill with a touch of ‘Bell’.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and I’ll be back again soon to share more.
